Prescott, Arizona–we’ll go back again and again. There are so many trails in Prescott and we mapped out three perfect rides- First from Painted Rock, Javelina, Tatanka (great fun), a little of West Side Story, Missing Link. Day two we stayed in the Thumb Butte area but rode from the Iron Spring area–Noodle, Juniper Gate, … More Three Perfect Prescott Days
Flagstaff was a bit frosty in the morning, but we chose a nice ride up to Schultz Pass. flagstaff has thwarted our attempts the last few we’ve tried to ride. This time the snafu was a cell phone escaping an unzipped pocket after one of the fun jumps on Schultz Creek. Our plan was for … More Fast Stop in Flagstaff and Sedona
Last year, Butch rode two days in Gallup and got chased by cold, rainy weather, so this year we went back together to check out the riding under sunny skies. Our first day was in the Zuni Mountains- USFS land with well laid out trails through a full grown and well maintained forest. This was … More Gallup NM???
Between Moab and Gallup, we stopped in Cortez for a night and a ride in Phil’s World. The trails are one way, so there isn’t much choice of mixing up the ride, but we climbed up to the ridge twice and came swooping and laughing down through Rib Cage. A nice stopover on the way … More Cortez’s Phil’s World
Ah, warm sunny skies and lots of slickrock, we never get tired of Moab. Bypassing Park city (16 degrees at night, 35 during the day) we skipped right to Moab from Provo. Our mid-afternoon arrival gave us time to stretch our legs. We parked at Bar M and thought the trail might be lame, but … More Moab- Everyone’s favorite
We saw a posting about some new trails in Prineville, Oregon and decided to detour there on our way to Bend. Prineville is an older town, Les Schwab tires started here and there is a pretty big railroad depot as well. The parking lot was small, but there was a kiosk with a map and … More Prineville and Bend- Four great rides
Today we found another gem west of Portland OR. The Stubb’s State Park has some great trails…plenty of climbing, beautiful forests, fun down hills. And there’s great camping there as well, although we’re staying with Butch’s son in the center if the city. Another day planned for riding tomorrow!
Moving west, we thought we’d stretch our legs and ride some trails at Auger Falls. Little did we know that we would find another hidden gem. The riding was not difficult, but there were rocky sections and the scenery was just amazing. You park way down in the canyon, surrounded on both sides by tall … More Twin Falls/Auger Falls, ID
We chose Green Canyon in Provo–it was a two hour drive from our campground and would allow the 38 degree morning to warm up a bit. We thought we made the wrong call as we wound our way up the canyon to Provo. The trail is a “green” but it was a steady climb that … More Provo–Still Smiling!
Sturgis and Spearfish South Dakota–we’re not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. There is a ton a great riding around here. We chose Lookout Mtn– a long climb up but then we took one of the only Black trails and forgot how much we love narrow, benched and sometimes technical trails. Marry that with an amazingly fun … More Spearfish–We’ll be Back!
