OK, set the gps for Spring Hill and it starts to send us on dirt roads. Back to the paper map after some stressful conversation and take the major roads to Barling. The Corps of Engineers has some locks on the Arkansas River and camping. There’s 10 miles of flat mtn bike trails here. Butch napped and I rode. Got to see one deer, two bunnies, many indigo buntings and cardinals, a Baltimore oriole and some Canada geese on the trail. There are lots of scents, too—the wild roses are in bloom and the ramps are in season, so it smells like grandma’s perfume or a garlic/green onion produce section! The trail is flat fast and curvy with some skinny bridges, some with consequences.
